Homemade Southern BBQ Sauces

It’s almost tailgating season here in the South, and you know what that means—It’s officially time for the endless burgers, brats, wings, pork, steaks, veggies, ribs, and more. Of course, all of these favorite football-time eats have something in common—sauce. Honey sauce, savory sauce, and the traditional Alabama white sauce are a few of the most popular BBQ sauces of the South.

We’ve put a few of our classic homemade sauces together for y'all to use this season. Trust us, once you make these, your friends and family are sure to be begging for you to share the recipes. Check ‘em out and let us know which one is your favorite!
Coffee Honey BBQ Sauce
1 T. Grapeseed or Avocado Oil
2 cloves garlic, minced or grated
1/4 medium sweet onion minced
1/2 c strong brewed Premium Dark roast coffee
1/4 c red or white wine vinegar
1 c Ketchup
3/4 c honey
1/2 Worcestershire sauce OR 1/2 c Hoisin + 2 T Worcestershire (more Korean style sauce) 

Heat oil in a pan and cook garlic and onions until soft. Add rest of ingredients to a pot, mix well and simmer 15-20 minute. With an immersion blender (or food processor) blend the sauce to purée onion and then simmer 10-15 more minutes until reduced and sauce reaches a good consistency. Use immediately or store refrigerated in an airtight container once cooled for up to two weeks.  
Sweet & Savory Mustard Sauce
1 c. Mustard
1/3 c. Dark brown sugar
2 T. Ketchup
2 t. Worcestershire sauce
1 t. Horseradish purée
1 t. garlic powder
1/2 t. Smoked salt (any salt is fine if this isn’t available)
1/2 t. Black pepper

Mix it all together to use immediately or store refrigerated in an airtight container once cooled for up to two weeks. This one is so easy and so good!
Traditional Alabama White Sauce
1 c. Mayonnaise (we encourage Dukes or Blue Plate)
1/4 c. White wine vinegar
Juice from 1/4 lemon
1 T. Horseradish purée
2 t (or more) minced garlic1t. Smoked paprika
1 t. Onion powder
1 t. Salt
1 t. Black pepper
Sugar to taste (start with 1 t. And add up to 1 T. based on preference) 

Mix all ingredients together except the sugar. Then, slowly add sugar until you reach the preferred flavor. Y’all will want to put this one everything! Use immediately or store refrigerated in an airtight container once cooled for up to two weeks.
